Throughout my entire life I had always been “the fat kid”. Growing up, participating in sports was always a challenge. Due to the fact that I was overweight, not only was I the slowest on every team but even something as simple as finding a jersey to fit me was a struggle. Problems like these really bothered me because it was hard enough to fit in as a teenager let alone an over weight one. I didn’t know how to face my issues so I would always hide from them. I would turn to food as a source of comfort. Anytime I was upset about my weight I would eat more and more. Smart wasn’t it? No. Quickly my weight spiraled out of control. I was gaining weight rapidly and was even worrying my family. They warned me time and time again that I had to be careful because I was becoming extremely overweight, and I was not healthy. By the time I graduated high school I was over 300 pounds. I had always been self-conscious of the way I looked and how over weight I was, but some how nothing could change my unhealthy lifestyle. I had friends and family approaching me often about how I should consider taking a healthy approach to life, but I didn’t want to hear it. I wanted things my way and no one else’s! This mentality mixed with the unhealthy college lifestyle brought me up to 330 pounds at the end of my freshman year of college. I was huge! I couldn’t believe that I let myself get to that point. I remember that I couldn’t walk ten feet without breathing heavily. I was extremely embarrassed of myself. I was wearing size xxxl shirts and size forty-eight in pants and shopping became such a struggle. I woke up one morning and decided that now is the time for change!I had tried numerous times before to go on a diet but nothing would last more then a week. Well this time it would! The decision to turn my life around was the greatest decision of my life! I began to work out at my local gym, and started to cut down on my eating bad habits. I was unable to do much because of my physical state, but I did what I could. Gradually I worked my way up to going twice a day to the gym. After a little under a year of hard work and dedication I have lost 120 pounds and am in the best shape of my life! I recently began to focus on building muscle and hitting the weights hard.
