My name is James Kearsley, and I am honoured to be part of Team ON, representing from Australia.
Ever since a young age I have been involved in a range of diverse sports; I didn’t step foot into the gym until I was finishing college. Being the tall, skinny kid all throughout school was what motivated me to start, and the rest is history. Certain occurrences in my life really made my focuses to enter the fitness industry unwavering. I was diagnosed with cancer of the blood, specifically Acute Myeloid Leukemia, in 2014. At that point I decided to document my entire medical journey on my Instagram and YouTube.
I underwent numerous rounds of chemotherapy treatment until achieving remission later that year. Upon recovery, I returned to the gym to rebuild myself, deciding to enter my first Physique Competition 16 months after remission. Shortly after my competition I was re-diagnosed with the same type of cancer; requiring a Bone Marrow Transplant as my only option of treatment, and survival. I underwent the transplant 4 months later after further rounds of chemotherapy. I remember having Steve Cook and Shaun Stafford visit me in hospital the day before my transplant; the most motivating thing to happen.
After achieving a state of remission I returned to the gym once again. Now I aim to teach people the importance of taking care their bodies physically, mentally and most importantly, medically.
